We Love (Long) Weekends: October 5 – 8

Not everyone has the long weekend, unfortunately, but that doesn’t mean you can’t recognize all of the great stuff going on around Boston and New England. Here’s where you can find the WLBT Staff this weekend:

Zach: Wedding season finally ended for this guy, and it couldn’t be better timing for me to stop traveling away from Boston as I have two BSSL soccer games this weekend. In between games, I’ll be attending various beer-themed extravaganzas in Davis Square. On Friday night, I’m going to 90s Night at the Rosebud and plan to take home first prize in the Mortal Kombat competition AND the 90s karaoke contest. And on Sunday, I’m heading to RedBones Oktoberfest to enjoy an outdoor beer garden and bratwursts.

Dave: This is my New England getaway weekend, so I’m going to do my best to knock out the best the northeast has to offer. I’ll be leaving bright and early on Saturday morning to drive to West Point and catch my BC football squad at the beautiful Michie Stadium. I’m coming back quickly that evening because I’m turning right around to join the Harpoon Octoberfest race and fest in Vermont on Sunday. Monday will be a day of relaxation and, if the weather holds, I’m going to head to Community Boating to take a kayak or even sail out on the Charles.

Alex:  This weekend I will be heading back to New Jersey to visit my parents and run a 5K.  We are running/walking in honor of Shane Magrann (my friend’s father) and his fight against Multiple Myeloma. The MMRF Race for Research 5K Walk/Run to raises money for the MMRF which helps find new treatments and ultimately a cure for Multiple Myeloma.

Drea: Tonight, I have a date and I hope to go somewhere awesome like Alta Strada. Tomorrow looks a little low key. Sunday, I’ll be up early for a run around the Charles before a South End brunch at Gallows, SOWA, then out to the burbs to take the nephews pumpkin picking, maybe at Verrill’s Farm. Then, unlike most of you, I’m back to work on Monday.
