In keeping with my last POTW theme, check out the sweet vintage action in this photo, courtesy of Tom Bridge. The Weld Boathouse was built in 1906, and is the halfway point for Head of the Charles. It’s also the main base for Harvard’s rowing, boating, and crew teams.
Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.
Every week we select a photo from our We Love Beantown Flickr pool to highlight as the pic of the week – join and submit your favorites!
In point of fact: Weld Boathouse is the main base for Radcliffe’s rowing team. Harvard rows out of Newell Boathouse.
That’s partly true – Radcliffe women’s crew does row out of Weld, but in fact representing Harvard. Although Harvard does row primarily out of Newell, it is still considered the main house, as it is used for Harvard’s intramural teams and sculling as well.
