Is it Spring? Is it Winter 2? We don’t know, but we’ll still have some fun this weekend. Here’s where our authors are going to be.
Natty: This weekend is going to be awesome. Friday night, I am booked to record music for 6-8 hours with the legend who is Bodine. Spirits will be raised and imbibed. Saturday, the gal and I are going for a walk from Washington Square to Faneuil Hall as we do every Spring. We may make a pit stop at Whiskey’s on Bolyston to catch the Sox game in the midst of our 10-mile stroll. Saturday night, we’ll recover with some tube and relaxation. On Sunday morning, I’m breaking out the tennis racquet and finding some open courts in Brookline–which is no easy task–to shake the dust and get back into the swing of things–pun intended. I’ll catch the Sox game on Sunday afternoon to round out this epic Spring weekend. Enjoy the sun and the warmth!
Dave: Busy weekend for me, involving just about all corners of town. Tonight I’ll be attending a fundraiser/meet and greet event in Cambridge with Ed Markey – young professionals gathering together to support his candidacy for the seat made vacant by now Secretary of State John Kerry. Saturday, after hanging out with the fam during the day, you can catch me wearing the best of my bowties and checking out this awesome crawl through downtown. I’ll wrap up the weekend with a fresh growler of some Harpoon. Their new summer concoction – Midsummer Fling – is quite a good accompaniment to early afternoon Red Sox baseball.
Jarret: Saturday, I visit the MFA to catch the final week of The Postcard Age. Wait, you like American ephemera too? I think you should come before it closes April 14. Sunday, I am going to Session Beer Day, hosted by Notch Brewery. I appreciate the option to pre-game with a “5k-ish” run. I might just run it and earn my sessions at Deep Ellum and Silhouette Lounge (the latter of which did quite well in our Shite Sixteen). Gather in front of Deep Ellum at 3:15 p.m., either with running shoes or pint in hand.
Alex: Today my weekend starts earlier than usual. I am taking my Arch-175 class on my Perfect Mile walking tour of HistoricDowntown Boston. Can’t wait to show them some of my favorite sites, and teach them about the infill of Boston’s harbor. Tonight after I teach, a couple of my girlfriends and I will be having a girl’s night. Dinner in Coolidge Corner, (hopefully at my favorite, the Regal Beagle), getting our nails done, and girly drinks will help us relax after a long week. Saturday, I will be grabbing drinks with some friends downtown. Sunday, I will close the weekend out trying to conquer Laundry Mountain while watching the Sox and grading projects.
Drea: My former roommate is in town so we plan to get as crazy as possible (for old people, at least!). Tonight, we’re starting in Faneuil Hall for cheap margs before moving to the Seaport to dine. Rumor has it there’s a birthday party in Southie we’ll be attending. Saturday will include South End strolling and the opportunity to venture off plan and see where the day takes us. Sunday, I’ll be celebrating my friend’s 30th birthday at brunch at 75 Chestnut before heading over to run with my kiddos at Girls on the Run.
Dan: Since my weekend will be spent almost entirely on dusty academic endeavors, I’d rather you imagine me prancing around the Public Garden, perhaps holding a single daffodil, my head tilted towards the sky as I invoke the Gods of various religions, begging for Spring to finally arrive.
