As temps finally make their way into the 70s, it looks like a gorgeous weekend (other than the showers on Saturday) to celebrate the moms in our lives whether they live close by or not….
Natty: Finally a weekend with no work required! As it is a gorgeous May day, the gal and I will take a stroll through Brookline and Chestnut Hill tonight post-work. The bars in Cleveland Circle may call our names for an evening pint–I’m looking at you, Cityside roofdeck. Tomorrow morning, an early workout will be in order at Beacon Hill Athletics Club, followed by a day of music with T. Bodine. Saturday night, my quest begins to find the best cover band in Boston in my new “Under the Covers” series. Check back early next week for more information. Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers, and happy Other’s Day to all you others!
Dave: It is a big family weekend for me, with the nephew’s birthday and Mother’s Day keeping me out in the burbs. Good news is that I can’t wait to spend Friday lunch swinging through the Chestnut Hill campus of BC since I have to get the munchkin his birthday present still – spoiler alert, he always gets BC stuff. If there’s any time early on Sunday morning, I’ll try to get coffee at the Buttery and just see the early workings of SoWa as it gets to weekend 2.
Alex: Today is my last day at my current job. Coworkers and I will be grabbing drinks after work in Andover followed by dinner in Boston to relax… don’t feel like making dinner after the crazy week of trying to pass off/finish all my current projects. The rest of my weekend is pretty open… I plan on heading to the gym Saturday (Natty I think we go to the same gym…) followed by a walk around the Reservoir with my friend Melissa. Sunday, after the gym, I want to head downtown and take some pictures touristista-style of places I have not hung out at in a while. I’ll grab a bite to eat while I’m out at Pasta E Pomodoro in the North End, or depending on where my camera leads me, maybe I will end up at Temazcal Cantina on the harbor. Sunday night, ironing and laying out my clothes like I did for the first day of school… new job downtown, here I come! Happy Mother’s Day Mom!
Drea: As usual, this Friday night I’m having dinner with my coworkers. Rumor has it we’ll be venturing out to Hungry Mother vs ordering it – very exciting stuff! Then, I’m meeting a brand new baby named Brooks in Medford before heading to Gatsby party in Beacon Hill. Tomorrow, I’ll go on a long run, plop myself down in a coffee shop – maybe Thinking Cup in the North End to do some last minute wedding planning and some other North End adventures. I’m still getting settled – if anyone has any tips, favorites or hints about the neighborhood, I’m all ears. Sunday seems pretty quiet, but I better be seeing Gatsby!
Casey: Being back in Boston on weekends again is awesome! Among Mother’s Day BBQ festivities planned for Sunday in Wellesley, I’ll be hitting golf balls until my arms fall off at the Natick Golf Learning Center on Saturday – you know it’s officially “Sayonara Killington” when you’ve traded your skis for golf clubs. We’ve got date night, monthversary plans for dinner tonight at Aquitaine in Chestnut Hill – woo French! – and then are hitting up Summer Shack tomorrow. All those tasty noms means I’ll be real ready for a run to Wellesley from Brighton on Sunday, right? I have a feel it’s not going to be pretty! Happy Mother’s Day Boston Moms – and puppy Moms too!
Jarret: There’s time in one’s weekend to run. That time for me is Sunday morning, where I’ll be cheering friends running the Providence Marathon. I’ll join the last three miles as an athletic supporter. It’s the least I can do. Before getting sweaty, though, I’ll be getting fancy- you can too. Prospect Hill Academy Charter School holds their fundraising gala this evening at the Harvard Club. It’s prom time, people.
Dan: Tonight I’m headed out to try the much-heralded tapas bar Barcelona in Washington Square, then out and about in Allston later. Saturday I’ll be doing errands – anyone know the hippest place in town to get your brakes checked? Sunday I’ll be up on the North Shore celebrating my wonderful mother Linda. Those of you in Boston should check out brunch!
