Last Thursday I volunteered at one of the most exciting days in the Boston tech community, TechStars Demo Day. 14 Companies from all over the world took to the stage at the House of Blues on Landsdowne St, each pitching their companies progress through out the accelerator program; successes they’ve had and funding they are seeking to a group of investors, alumni, family, friends and community members.
To be honest this was one of the most exciting and inspirational events I’ve been to. To see companies disrupting their respective industries, have success and be on the track to really make an impact in the community was pretty surreal. You could see the culmination of years of hard work coming together in front of your eyes.
A welcomed surprise was when David Ortiz joined the social media app FanCred on stage to help tell their story. This appearance really feels like a confirmation that the Boston tech scene has progressed and is becoming a mainstream focus in the city. People are recognizing the talent and innovation in Boston, and it’s crossing over to the mainstream as a real beneficiary to the local economy and even with coding becoming “cool”.
Very exciting stuff!
So without further ado, meet Boston’s newest group of industry disrupting Startups:
