Take yourself into the weekend with the homegrown and share some time with friends. Fellow author Dave Levy and I recorded “Wagon Wheel” the week Darius Rucker released his new album last winter, and the song holds up in all seasons. We’re happy to present it to you as song of the day.
Before Darius Rucker and Old Crow Medicine Show, Bob Dylan originally sketched out the chorus to the song and the basic verse progression in early 1973. It’s a bit of a mess, but a gem if you have a familiarity (tolerance?) for Dylan outtakes.
Note, you cannot head west from the Cumberland Gap to Johnson City, TN. That trucker outta Philly should check himself.
