David Ortiz

When David Ortiz was signed over from the Twins in the early part of the millennium, you’d be lying if you said he was going to be our backbone and star for the best years of the Sox since the early 1900s. Last night, book ended by two mammoth home runs, Ortiz legged out a double in the alley that would be his official 2,000th hit – one of just 17 active players at that milestone. It sure was an extra exclamation point on the savage beat down that the Old Towne Team laid down on the Tigers.

It’s going to take approximately 20 more of these games before the fear of 2011 gets beaten out of me, but I felt better for just a second as the Sox stood triumphant over the second best team in the AL.
