The magic number for the 2013 Boston Red Sox to take the A.L. East pennant is down to a mere eight games after last night’s win over the Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays. The team is now 9.5 games up on the struggling Rays–and 10.5 over the Yankees–with 15 games to go.
A big shout out to Mike Carp for his game winning, pinch hit Grand Slam in the 10th to bring the good guys that much closer to home field advantage in the 2013 playoffs.
Also–Closer Koji Uehara has retired 33 straight batters. This is a Red Sox record. Papelbon who?
