I’ve come to a decision. In 2014, I’m going to find the best cover band in the Boston area. Overzealous, you say? I disagree.
Here’s how it will work: The amazingly talented music staff at WLBT will identify the best cover bands in the area through research and recommendations from our readers. We’ll closely examine each hopeful–checking out live shows, internet presence, and even reaching out for interviews–to ensure that we’re dealing with the absolute best of the best. Each month, we’ll select one band as a finalist for the 2014 championship. This band will be the highlighted in the Under the Covers special for the specific month that they are selected.
PLEASE NOTE: Any and all nominations from readers will be considered.
The rest is up to you. In December, we’ll take a look back on the 12 bands that are in the running for Boston’s Best Cover Band. A poll will be open to the general public and voting will run from Thursday, December 18 through Thursday, January 1, 2015. The King of the Covers will then be named.
To get the ball rolling, my first nomination is The Boston Naturals, a group that I first stumbled upon at the Green Briar Pub in Brighton. From Tom Petty to Zeppelin to the Stones, this group covers the classics with ease.
