Former Fleet Foxes drummer Father John Misty aka J. Tillman aka Joshua Tillman, crushed the House of Blues last night. After fighting an early dismissed Sox game, I got in right in time for his opening monologue, disecting his pre-set music. In case you don’t know, unintentional/intentional comedy is part of the show. The banter, in between most of the songs off the highly acclaimed, Fear Fun, is often a highlight of the show. In fact before the encore began he kicked off a “Q and A”, where he let us know:
WeLoveBeantown recently got word that the Hotel Commonwealth-affiliated bar, The Hawthorne, has taken a play from Minibar at the Copley Square Hotel.
Night-owls or newly acquainted lovebirds can easily extend their stay at the glitzy cocktail bar into an overnight upstairs at the Hotel Commonwealth for a cool $199 (when available). Those who take advantage of the offer don’t even have to fret about walking up early to clock out, as the offer comes with a built in late-night check out. Know your audience, I suppose.
One might wonder if the last minute hotel finder Hotel Tonight had anything to do with this new offering. But, no matter why – some nights are too good to end at 2am or at an ugly, cramped apartment. Pretend you’re fancy for a night.
It seems the enticing (one-night stand) package is now available to test-drive. Keep it classy, Boston.
It’s been almost 6 weeks since the Boston Marathon, and you’ve vowed to run the marathon next year. Awesome! But then…the sinking feeling comes in. *Gulp* I’m running a marathon?
Get ready to be inspired! Next Wednesday June 12th, ‘Spirit of the Marathon 2′ will be playing in movie theaters across the US for a one-time-only 7:00pm showing. The award winning ‘Spirit of the Marathon’ followed a handful of runners – both professional and amateur – as they trained for the Chicago Marathon. The sequel follows seven runners as they get ready to run the 2012 Rome Marathon – the original marathon. If the sequel is anything like the original, get ready for injury heartbreak, inspirational stories, and honest storytelling about one of the most physically demanding activities in the world.
