Quickly Around Town

One Boston

The amount of pride this city holds is unlike any other.

My roommate shared this video with me, it will make you cry. It depicts the passion we feel for our beautiful home.

The One Fund, established by Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino, will streamline donations for those affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy, into one account, which will then be divided up to victims and their families. Continue reading

Bostonian Habits, We Love Beantown

Wear Boston Day

Red Sox - Yankee Game

Tomorrow, no matter where you are, show your love of Boston with us. It is a small way to show unity and support for all the victims and their family’s of Monday’s tragedy.

Get yourself decked out in whatever Sox, Celts, Pats, Revs, Cannons, Breakers, Lobsters, homemade-with-puff-paint, Boston-based college gear you have, as long as it says “BOSTON” wear it this Friday to show support!

Interviewed on Boston.com, Melissa Bourgoine a Suffolk University employee and grad student, created a Facebook page Wednesday encouraging all to make Friday “Boston Spirit Day” by dressing in their favorite local team or college colors and hats. The page gained momentum all day, with some news outlets publicizing the cause.

“I think people are looking for something to smile about, something to look forward to,” she said. “I hope this gives them that.”

Boston’s Street Seats Competition

Design brings communities together. Public seating sets the scene for chance encounters, people watching, connecting with nature, or just taking a break.

In this installment of our Architecture Walking Tours, we head to another college’s campus, Boston University.

I invite you to walk along the line of the map I provided, and you will get to see some interesting hidden streets and buildings along the way and encounter many more sites than I pinned on the map. As we found in our Architecture Walking Tour of MIT, Boston University, also has a remarkable collection of artwork; green pins are outdoor sculptures.

You can print out the map, or use it on your smart phone. Using Safari to get access to Google Maps on your Android or iPhone will be the best way to follow the map on your phone.

Please let me know if I missed any of your favorite sites!

Let’s start this trip at Kenmore station.
